Canada is a parliamentary democracy as well as a constitutional monarchy. The capital of Canada is in Ottawa. Canada won its independence from Great Britain 91 years after the USA earned theirs, in 1865.
The current head of the executive branch (as of 2006) is Prime Minister Joseph Harper. In the judicial branch, the supreme court of Canada is very similar to the supreme court of the USA. There is a chief justice that is supported by 8 other judges. In the legislative branch, there is a bicameral (two chambered) parliament that consists of the Senate and the House of Commons.
